Quote of the day: Good, Better, and Best

You have to decide what your highest priorities are and have the courage—pleasantly, smilingly, nonapologetically, to say “no” to other things. And the way you do that is by having a bigger “yes” burning inside. The enemy of the “best” is often the “good.”

Stephen Covey

This quote to me is in some ways Kipling’s in another form. I was being melodramatic when I said that we are often cheap – choosing good enough options over great options – when making life choices. When I look at my own life and those in my inner circle, there’s much to be proud of, there have been many good choices. Great choices are however fewer and far between. This quote gets us thinking about one of the main reasons we bargain for good instead of great – we simply might not dare decide what we really want.
